When I saw my best friend ripping out a solo on stage at a gig a few months ago, and watching all the girls swoon around him after the show (and some guys lol), I thought to myself…I wanna do that!
Playing guitar is just so cool, and I've always wanted to learn at least the basics. Everyone says it's so satisfying when you can really play and jam with other people too, that I wanted to get started.
The problem is, as most people already know, it takes so long to learn to play the guitar, I always get put off after a week.
As you can tell, I'm not a patient type of person, so it may be no surprise to hear me say that I find it frustrating trying to learn anything, particularly the guitar.
One thing I've tried is going to a private tutor in my local town. However, he costs a lot and over time, I think I'm going to be spending a ton of cash on that guy and who knows whether I'll be any good at the guitar or not after all is said and done with him?
Besides, tutors are a pain for me as I have a hectic lifestyle with work and other stuff going on most nights. I simply don't have the time to learn guitar around some other guy's schedule, so I had to look for some other way to learn.
That's when I tried with the books and traditional read only guides. Let me tell you, they are hard to understand and see what's really supposed to be going on, and for me personally, it felt like I was back at school or something.
What I started to realize, after talking with friend who were already in bands, is that most guides and solutions don't help with timing, rhythm (so if you want to go from playing in your bedroom to playing in a band, you're gonna find it hard)
After a while, I stumbled across something I read about in a review in a guitar magazine online. It's a program called Jamorama, and I know, it sounds cheesy.
I actually bought the thing, and now I'm back with a review so that if you're in the same position of trying to learn guitar faster and more easily, then you may want to know about this guide before you get it for yourself.
I picked it up because it:
- Has Step by Step Lessons,
- Covers Beginner to Advanced levels,
- Is taught by an experienced tutor (Ben Edwards of Degrees K band and highly acclaimed guitar tutor amongst many),
- Is highly acclaimed software from the top guitarist magazines,
- Has software that claims to teach you with text, video and jam along tracks…
…and there's also some cool looking bonuses such as a guitar tuner and metronome (which cost a lot of money from the local guitar store!),
What you'll learn in this review
I wrote this review so that you can see for yourself whether Jamorama is actually any good (does the software work?) before you make a decision.
Also, I'll be testing how effective the teaching modules are and who it's really right for.
Finally, I'll be seeing whether it's worth the money and hopefully, all of this will help you make a better decision before you lay any cash down on another guide for learning guitar.
